Valve officially unveiled the Steam Deck in July
After months, if not years, of speculation and rumors, to compete with the Nintendo Switch and the portable gaming market.

Thanks to a new, actual hands-on video, fighting game fans can now get a taste of what Street Fighter 5 looks and plays like on the Steam Deck.
What to expect from the Steam Deck
Street Fighter 5 appears to operate consistently smooth and responsive, based on the 43-second video, which shows the player pulling off some M. Bison combos.
Unfortunately, we don’t get a decent impression of how the game looks in handheld mode because Twitter’s renowned video compression makes finer features tough to see on screen.
In handheld mode, the Steam Deck will not output in 1080p or 4K quality, as stated in the system’s launch. Its 7-inch screen has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, which is roughly similar to 720p.
In handheld mode, the Nintendo Switch also runs at 720p.

Steam games couch play or to go?
The Steam Deck may output up to 4K when docked or connected to an external screen via HDMI, although it depends on the game being played.
Valve has previously showcased its hybrid system running Guilty Gear Strive with arcade sticks plugged into the dock, so it’s fantastic to see them acknowledge fighting games and, at the very least, hint that their hardware will be useful for those who want to practice or get some action on the road.
Some in the fighting game community are looking at the future system as a possible solution for hosting tournaments on PC due to its more portable nature and stable hardware, but it remains to be seen if it will be a feasible option.
