Valve’s new approach to gaming takes on a handheld version. Its versatility competes with Nintendo Switch, although Valve claims it’s the most powerful handheld gaming platform to date.

Powerful

Claiming to run the latest AAA games (“and to run them really well”), it’s said it can handle games such as Control, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and No Man’s Sky.

Probably, you already have what to play on it

Once you’ve logged into Steam Deck, your entire Steam Library shows up, just like any other PC. You’ll be able to find your collections and favorites – exactly where you left them.

Want to play it on a TV or monitor? No problem.

The official dock props up your Steam Deck while connecting to external displays, wired networking, USB peripherals, and power. You can also use a powered USB-C hub, if you’ve got one lying around.
The official dock will be sold separately.

Features

7″ touchscreen

Type and swipe through the Steam UI with Deck’s capacitive multi-touch display.

Trackpads

Play PC games that were never designed to be handheld. With increased precision and customizability, trackpads also give you a competitive edge when playing fast-paced FPS games.

Gyro

With an IMU and capacitive touch thumbsticks on-board, Deck helps you aim better. By physically positioning the device you can achieve more precision than using a thumbstick or trackpad alone.

Grip buttons

Four user-assignable buttons on the back of the Deck put the next level of control right at your fingerprints while keeping your thumb firmly planted on the trackpad or stick.

Pricing

Per today’s, Steam Deck comes in 3 variants, starting at $399 USD. And ships in December 2021 to the United States, Canada, European Union, and the United Kingdom. More regions coming in 2022.
